A few minutes to stop, take a breath, take the time to assess where I'm at, where I'm going.
This past week:
Andy got his saxophone, and he loves it. It's a good instrument, one that will serve him well at least into college. Hopefully it will help to foster this love of music he's found within himself. Maybe even open a few scholarship doors for him. I hope, more than anything, that it helps him to find the music within his own heart and soul.
Katie and I did "Pottermania" at Barnes and Noble. Yes, I was there at 12:01 on Friday night. Along with at least a thousand other people. Crowds are not my thing, at least not crowds THAT big! Still, I'm glad I went. She can't drive between 11pm and 5am without an adult driver in the car with her. It was a chance to share something with her friends that's been a huge part of her teen years. She stayed up all night reading. At 9:15 Saturday morning, she came into my room, traces of tears on her face. "It's like saying good-bye to a really good friend, Mom." Yep, I know. I get it. There are authors and characters I've loved for what seems like forever. But you'll read them over and over again, and she'll write others. It's in her blood. Like it's in yours. Fun and heartbreaking to share this milestone with her. She loves books like I do. She gets it. She always has.
Dee. I saw her at church this morning. She hugged me gently, said it was good to see me. It made me smile. We talked a bit by email this week, and once on the phone. It was good to see her. Gave me a lift. I'm going slowly. We are friends. I am glad. It's enough.
I got to see Marcy Friday night for the first time since the 4th. She spends most of her days out at Grand Lake now. Their house is nearing completion. She's at peace out there, away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. I miss her, but I'm glad she's found a place of quiet for herself.
For the near future:
Summer's close to ending. Or at least well more than halfway done. The kids start school in 4 weeks, August 20th. It's hard to believe this much of it has flown by this quickly. Andy starts Band Camp on August 2nd. He'll have until the 20th of every day at school except Sat/Sun, 7 am to 3 pm, out there practicing, marching drills, new music. It'll be hot out in the sun. I hope they're careful about making sure the kids get enough water.
I'm studying my little butt off for my CPC exam. This is not going to be easy. I think I can do it, I hope I can. But it won't be easy. A friend at work is helping me prep for it. I want this really badly. Keep working on it. Just keep working on it. One chapter at a time, one text at a time. Focus on now, not down the road.
Time for sleeping. Insomnia's still bad off and on. Hopefully tonight will be a good sleeping night. Hopefully.

Was it? A good sleeping night. I certainly hope so. I don't suffer the bouts at all when I'm in TN, at all.
Hi babe! I see much has been happening with you. I do hope you are on the mend and your walls are still shakin' if of course, she is worth the demolition. (((HUGS)))
